Currently under construction in Sedona, Roost House sits perched on an extreme hillside lot looking at vistas in all directions. Designed as a refined retreat for an avid hiker, the home is carefully positioned to embrace the dramatic terrain, red rock setting, and daily connection to the outdoors. The property is a 'base camp' for her professional and personal lives. The constraints of the site defined the location of the home while the views and sun exposure organized the floor plan and patios. Bordering a national forest, the home is designed as a fire resilient structure.
The garage, office space and work out area are organized on the lower floor along with a private patio that cantilevers over a seasonal wash at the rear of the home. The upstairs accomodates all of the living and sleeping spaces along with a large covered patio area for entertaining. The roof of the home slopes up towards the red rocks beyond to capture views while protecting the patio from sun and rain.
