Perched in the scenic foothills North of Scottsdale, Arizona, the home was designed around a sloping site running along a seasonal arroyo. Porteguese for 'bridge house' Casa Puente is broken into three main volumes, each connected by a glass-bridge element. Each volume focuses on the natural desert and powerful mountain views beyond, while also breaking down the home into guest, public, and private spaces.
 
The home began as a seasonal retreat from northern winters, but will soon become the owner’s full-time residence. Following the path of the wash, it settles low into the site, creating privacy from the street while preserving views, natural light, and a strong connection to the desert landscape.

The main circulation path is expressed through a compressed, floating-wood ceiling that also organizes all of the homes MPE systems.  Mountain views to the West are controlled by automated exterior shades.  Interior cherry millwork and furniture are complemented by raw-steel elements and three-dimensional tile.
